NCTE approved D.Ed, B.Ed and M.Ed through distance education- recognized institute, validity, unrecognized institute, process

Hi,

While replying to one of the question posted on a leading portal, I felt I should write something about this topic. Well, there are people who want to start teaching as a career as a passion (hardly 3% of entire population) and rest want to do it to get a secure job, government job etc.

There are people who want to do B.Ed through distance mode too. They need to be very careful while opting a distance learning B.Ed. Please note the following

1. All the D.Ed., B.Ed. and M.Ed colleges need prior approval from National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE).
2. For distance learning D.Ed., B.Ed. and M.Ed. also NCTE is approval
3. NCTE has restricted seat even for the distance learning D.Ed., B.Ed. and M.Ed.
4. Admission to D.Ed., B.Ed. and M.Ed. must be through an entrance exam.
5. Universities have to offer B.Ed. for in service teachers in the same state where they exist. Only central universities like MANUU and IGNOU are allowed to offer courses all over India.
6. Distance B.Ed. and full time B.Ed. are same no difference.

Who can pursue distance B.Ed./ What is the eligibility criteria
Hi,
As per the NCTE guideline, the minimum requirement to pursue B.Ed in distance mode is
1. A graduation
2. Clearing such entrance exam (even for distance B.Ed)
3. Must be in service teacher in a government recognized school
4. Must have at least 2 years experience
5. The school must give undertaking that they will employ you till you complete your B.Ed
6. There is a limited seats in B.Ed distance
7. The B.Ed college/ university must be approved by NCTE (even for distance B.Ed.)

If you fulfil the criteria, you may pursue it

Can a  person who has experience in teaching in a coaching institute apply for B.Ed. distance mode?

No, the experience must be from a government recognized school

Is B.Ed and B.Ed special education  and B.P.Ed. same?
No. Both are different.

Is MA education means M.Ed.?
No, both are separate courses

I also request you to go through my blog entirely as I have ansered most of the questions through various blog post. In this blog post only post question related to D.Ed., B.Ed. and M.Ed. distance, part time and full time related courses.

I also got recently query about validity of B.Ed. from Jammu University. Please note that it is a degree scam. Jammu University is a well reputed state university and offer courses in the state of Jammu and Kashmir only. Any degree offered outside the state, through agent is fake and invalid.

    1. I told, one should post question related to D.Ed., b.Ed. and M.Ed. only but anyway
      1. RKDF is an approved private university so you may take admission but it is not amongst very reputed institute and I am little skeptical to advise anybody to take admission in such universities.
      2. The course fee is quite higher, I do not know for what do they charge so much
      3. Since it is approved university, I do not see any harm to apply for a full time course from here

  4. Hello Govindji,
Regional Institute of English, South India, Bangalore www.riesielt.com . offers PG Diploma in English Language Teaching (PGDELT) through distance education. Its course is included by Karnataka State Government as one of the qualifications for appointment/promotion as English Language Teacher (Government Job). Surprisingly, the PGDELT of RIESI was never recognised by DEC. Could you please make a comment on this?
    Thanks.

    1. Hi,
This is an approved institute for B.Ed. and Govt of Karnataka has chosen this institute to increase competency of the teachers too through various programme.
      Please refer
      http://dsert.kar.nic.in/html/chapter02.html

Please note that except for fine arts, music, painting and physical education B.Ed recognized from NCTE is a mandatory qualification and RIE South India offers B.Ed approved by NCTE
      please check following link
      http://www.ncte-india.org/inst/instlist.asp?statecode=Karnataka&cour=BED

However any institute's PGDELT without B.Ed is not a valid qualification for teaching position upto secondary level however may be considered as an additional qualification. This institute's PGDELT has no DEC recognition

    4. Hi,
Please read the above post carefully. I have explained it well.
Magadh University cannot offer any course whether F.Ed., B.Ed. or M.Ed outside its jurisdiction and definitely not outside Bihar.
Except IGNOU nobody can offer B.Ed. and M.Ed. nationally and state government will also not accept such M.Ed.
Further, NCTE has not approved Magadh University to offer M.Ed. in distance mode.
