University of Mumbai, Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) admission starts from 25th June 2014

Hi,

Universities of Mumbai is one of the oldest, well known and prestigious university in India. It is awarded as 5 star status by NAAC. It has lost its erstwhile reputation still it is one of the well accepted and known university in India.

IT has started admission for various UG, PG and diploma programme.

There is no additional or new course this year. However, online registration is mandatory.

(With late fee): 01.08.2014 to 16.08.2014

The dates are tentative and may change

Admission process: Online application then printout + original documents need to be submitted at designated centre

Courses offered: In the jurisdiction of Mumbai University only i.e. Mumbai, Thane district, Raigad- Panvel to Karjat, Alibaug, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg District only.

Is it a very student friendly for distance learning: No, not at all. It is worst. However, degree from this university is one of the safest and most acceptable.

Is the exam process same for regular full time college and distance learner: No, not at all. For UG courses, exams for first year and second year is conducted and awarded by the college. They also provide internal mark, viva and entire book is splitted into two. Half book is taught upto September and half book upto March. Passing from regular college of this university is very easy. If you are going for tuition with the teachers in the college, you will surely clear the exam (only around 10-15 colleges are exception) and passing regular course is much easy but distance learning is very tough. First, second and third all year exams  of distance learning, University of Mumbai only conducts exam. IT covers full book hence passing the exams are at least 4 times tougher than passing from a regular college. Considering this, I will say, distance learner of University of Mumbai are better than those from regular colleges (except handful reputed colleges, others even do not bother about attendance and marks are given like freebies). There will be no project, no assignment, no viva for distance learners (except computer science).
Exams are held usually during April- May. Staffs are very unfriendly and has attitude of typical government clerk.
