TISS announced 1 year online masters programme in social work

Selection Procedure:
·         Interested candidates who fit the eligibility criteria need to apply online. 
·         For application, you will first need to ‘Register’ online on our application page.
·         To register you will need to provide your full name, contact details and program applied for. 
·         After registration is successful, you will receive an email on your registered email ID with login details such as UserID and Password.
·          You can now proceed to complete your application by using UserID and Password provided to you.
·         To complete your application, you need to provide all the details such as educational background, employment details etc. in the online application form.
·         You will need to upload your Passport Size Photograph and Signature on the application form. 
·         Your application will be complete only after you have paid the Application Fee. Please see the Information Booklet for more details regarding the fee payment. 
·         Fee payment can be done through Bank Challan, Net Banking or Credit or Debit Card.

Eligibility Criteria for M.A. Social Work in Child Rights:
·         Graduation in social sciences or social work 
·         Minimum 2 years of work experience with children or families
·         Currently employed in the field of children or families
·         Proficient in English language and Computer Skills
Eligibility Criteria for M.A. International Family Studies:
·         Post Graduate degree in social sciences or social work 
·         Proficient in English language and Computer Skills

So, you must have various questions. Let us look at this.
1.      Are these degrees approved by UGC?
TISS is approved UGC and a very reputed name. Further, the nomenclature of the programme is in accordance with UGC, hence it is valid. However, for NET this qualification may not be accepted as UGC needs 2 years post graduate programme. You may contact UGC and TISS for further clarification.

2.      Are these programmes approved by Distance Education Bureau (DEB) of UGC and is valid for government job?
As of today i.e. June 03rd 2014, DEB has not approved both the programmes. Hence these qualifications are not valid for government jobs including teaching positions.

3.      What is the value of the programmes then?
TISS is a very reputed institute and its courses are highest in quality compared to any other online and distance learning institutes India offering courses in social sciences. No, these are not the first graduate programme, these are the second degree programmes so only post graduate in social sciences/ social works are allowed.

    I Am BCOM pass out from EIILM University in 2012, till 2012 EIILM was authorised for Distance Education. I want to knw whether my degree is fake?

    Will appreciate your answer.


    1. Please check with the university if the qualification is verifiable
      If you have completed the course by appearing for all exams at the university's main campus in Sikkim then only it may stand valid subject to fulfilling other conditions including approval from DEC

    1. Yes, it comes my friend. Any private and deemed university were not allowed to admit any students from franchisee agreement. Students could pursue distance learning programme from private universities but the degree stands valid only if they have appeared for exam at the campus of the university
