Value of Sharda University- ranking, placement, recognition and status

Sharda University recently make butt of all jokes on twitter on its tag line "The world is here, where are you", really a big joke.

I thought to scan the web and look into this. In absence of proper information, people often get misguided.

Hello Friends,
I hope you are going though my blogpost http://blog.simplycareer.net for your all career needs. On this discussion, we would discuss about much advertised Sharda University.

Type of University: Private University (established purely for the profit making and commercialisation of education motive)

UGC approved: Yes

Approved by AICTE: No, its website is misleading students saying AICTE approval is not mandatory for universities. It is false. As per recent Supreme Court of India Judgment, it is now mandatory.

Approved by Medical Council of India: Yes

Approved by Dentist Council of India: Yes

Approved by Council of Architecture: Yes

Approved by Bar Council of India: Yes

However, the Bar Council of India approval points lapses in terms of infrastructure and faculty. Please see

Eligibility for engineering:
Matriculation with 60% marks; Sr. Secondary (10+2) with min. 60% marks (Aggregate & PCM)

Total seats in engineering: 2820

Total placement: 407

Placement percentage: 15%

any controversy or degree scam: As of now, I have not found Sharda University's involvement in selling degree through agents, offering full time courses by sitting at home for money. So I do not tag it as a blacklisted university.

It is a private university. You should not opt it for professional courses but if you are looking just for a degree like BA, B.Com, B.Sc., BBA, BCA, MA, M.Com, M.Sc. you may opt it. If you are not looking for good placement.

One of the PhD scholar respond as:

  • Administration:
  • Extracurricular Programs:
  • Alumni Network:

Sharda University has spent lot of money on ads and I am sure you must have seen those. They advertise as if it is heaven here. Well, when you come here, they still maintain this image but once you have paid the fee, nightmare starts!Education is fine.

Another Student Rinku term it as as fake as IIPM

ONE OF THE MOST FAKE UNIV. WHO KNOWS HOW TO ATTRACT STUDENTS BY A GOOD BRANDING AND ADVERTISING STRATEGY like IIPM,.  THE PLACEMENT ON PAPERS THAT THEY SHOW AS 6-15 LACS LIES MAX. TO 1.10-3.6 LACS AND MANY of NOT EVEN A JOB.. Most ends to be a SALES man.. FACULTYS ARE TREATED LIKE SERVANTS AND FE .

Rati Dua from Chandigarh seems to be positive

  • Academic Programs:
  • Administration:
  • Extracurricular Programs:
  • Alumni Network:
It is one of the leading University whether it is in terms of the academic records of students or in terms of placement. The outstanding faculty of Sharda is supportive and knowledable too, ex-students of this university are at good ranks in top companies.

However, most of the positive feedback mentioned on mouthshut contradicts Sharada's own data on its website part of mandatory disclosure and shying away from AICTE approval. Even Bar Council of India report contradicts these "student's" claim.

For international students: International students who want to opt Sharda University need to take decision on their own. It does not have AICTE approval so please do not opt engineering, computer application and management programme. Further, it is advertising heavily. It is definitely a non profit university, it is a for profit university.

Student should take complete precaution and must not be driven away by high advertisement. Advertisement can lure you but truth can be different.
