On behalf of UGC, the Central Board of Secondary Education announces holding of the
National Eligibility Test (NET) on 28th Dec 2014 (SUNDAY) for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor Both in Indian universities and colleges. CBSE will conduct NET in 79 subjects (listed under item no. 9) at 89 selected NET Coordinating Institutions (listed under Item no. 10) spread across the country. CBSE has no role play except conducting the exam centres. Since UGC is not competent enough to hold the test (and UGC is not competent enough to handle any task). This is a national shame that a secondary school board is conducting test for future teacher for universities and senior colleges.

Difference between JRF and Assistant Lecturership: The candidates who qualify for the award of Junior Research Fellowship are eligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible for Assistant Professor. The universities, institutions, IITs and other national organizations may select the JRF awardees for whole time research work in accordance with the procedure prescribed by them. The award of JRF and Eligibility for Assistant Professor both OR Eligibility for Assistant Professor only will depend on the performance of the candidate in all three papers of NET. 1. I am already above 35 years of the age, I am not happy with my current job/ corporate job. But I am not eligible for JRF however, eligible for NET assistant lecturership. does it really matters?
No. JRF is good only if you want to get research stipend which is hardly 15000 to 20000 per month if you get recruited as JRF in universities. You should not worry. you are eligible.

2.  I want to get job as a lecturer abroad, should I appear for NET?
No. Rather, you should prefer for doing a PhD, write many research experience and get an industrial/ corporate job. This will help you.

3. I want to be a lecturer in junior college i.e. 11th and 12th standard. Do I need to qualify for NET/ JRF?
no. you have to do a masters degree in relevant subject and B.Ed/ M.Ed.
